With a stacking game…
That’s how it all began. The goal was to explore the endless possibilities of Japanese culture and characteristics creatively and turn them into games. And this goal was to serve as the basis for all subsequent games.
Little Tokyo Stapelspiel
Little Tokyo is the start of a new series of Heldbergs games. The rules are simple. What if no one has time for a match? Then you play for yourself. Or you decorate your apartment with the iconic figures.
The waving cat Maneki-neko, the angry Kaiju, the fat ass of the sumo wrestler – stack them all into a ludicrous tower. And make sure your friends don’t know how to fit their Alna Sharyo tram in. Or any other block they’re currently stuck with. The whole thing always goes in order! The key is to keep your stuff on top and make sure the others with clumsy fingers knock the tower off balance.
Tokyo Poo Divers
During the day in the sewers, at night in the underground. The life of Tokyo’s disreputable shit divers is consistently shitty. The lowest caste of all underdogs sits in the Shinjuku dive bar every night, dozing away their lost time. Delirious thoughts waft through cesspools of manure, pouring into an endless nirvana of drunken stupor and overconfidence. The only fixed point in their empty gazes is the smudge cup with the stomach ulcer cocktail of I-don’t-know-what and I-don’t-want-to-know-what. A hot, stuffy, yet wild atmosphere drools through the humid air. It drools saliva, which the men inhale and secrete again as underarm sweat.
Love Hotel Manager
The traditional love hotels have had their day. Old, macho-style cabins? Nobody wants or needs them anymore. Stale concepts? They only bring the industry into disrepute and leave operators with empty coffers. Ichien San has understood this: it wants to modernize and build the largest and hottest love hotel chain in Osaka.
Ramen Chef
Ramen – for us, it’s a brutally delicious noodle soup from Japan. But for its makers, ramen is at the center of an equally brutal battle in a mega-market. In the metropolis of Tokyo, chefs compete fiercely for the best ingredients so they can satisfy their customers’ desires. In Heldberg’s new game “Ramen Chef,” you’re right at the forefront of this battle. You’re one of up to four chefs who run their soup business with finesse and brains in order to become one of the greatest ramen chefs in Tokyo. Your weapon? Your clever mind!
In this clever flip memo variant, you search for ingredients. You’ll need a clear head and strong nerves, because concentrating under pressure like this is a real test of endurance.
The Japanese dinosaurs have thrown all the nonsense left behind by humans into the trash and kept only a few mementos. Namely, the coolest boards in the world! Now they surf them for all they’re worth. Endless space, free beaches, and every weekend the big surf battle, where the waves first crash and then glow. Everyone here makes a huge wave. Which brings us to the topic at hand.
This card memo game is like life. In the end, the winner is the one who gets things done. As many cards as possible in the correct sequence make up the longest wave. And the winner surfs away on it.
